Grok Bot Templates: How to Find, Use and Share Them

By DoNotify Team • • 3 min read • 4 views

A Grok Bot template is a blueprint for a Bot. It bundles the Bot's skills, memories and plugins, so someone else can launch their own copy in a few clicks. Each person who adds a template gets a separate Bot that they own.

What a template includes, and what it leaves out

  • Included: skills, memories and plugins, including first-party plugins and skills.
  • Left out: secrets, personal memories, private skills, custom code and scripts, and MCP servers that are not standard.

A template is different from a shared Bot. A shared Bot is one Bot that a team uses together. A template gives every person their own copy, set up with their own accounts.

Where to find Grok Bot templates

The Grok Bot Marketplace at x.ai/bot/marketplace lists ready-made Bots by category: From Grok Bot Team, Engineering, Sales, Marketing, Design, Personal, Recruiting and People, Product, and Operations. People also share template links directly, and a few community lists exist on GitHub. Those are not official, so read what a template does before you add it.

How to use a template

  1. Open the template link, or choose a Bot in the marketplace.
  2. Click Add to Grok Bot.
  3. Review the context and integrations it includes.
  4. Click Add Bot.
  5. Reconnect the plugins it uses. Templates carry the plugin list but not anyone's accounts, so your new Bot has to install them with yours.

How to share your own Bot as a template

  1. Open the Bot's settings and click Share as Template at the bottom right. Nothing goes live yet.
  2. Choose who can use it: your team, or anyone.
  3. Click Publish, then Copy Link and send it.

Before you publish, read the Bot's instructions and memories for anything personal, like names, links or client details. Secrets are never included, but text you typed into instructions is.

On team plans, an admin controls Public template sharing. When it is off, members can only share templates inside the team. It starts off on Enterprise and on for other teams.

Templates and phone calls

If your template includes a "call me when something is urgent" step with DoNotify, each person who adds it connects their own DoNotify account, because templates never copy secrets. So the calls go to their phone, not yours. Setup takes a few minutes on the AI agents page, and 14 calls are free.
