Choosing a Reminder Call Platform
Most people start looking for a reminder call platform after the same realisation: notifications are not landing, and the person who needs reminding is not the person staring at a dashboard. A phone call gets answered. The question is what to expect from the thing placing it.
This is the checklist we would use ourselves, including the parts where DoNotify is the wrong answer.
The five things that actually matter
1. It retries without being asked
A single attempt is not a reminder, it is a coin flip. Voicemail picks up, the phone is in another room, a thumb declines it by accident. A platform worth paying for detects voicemail and calls back from a different number, because a second call from the same number tends to read as spam.
2. You control the wording
"You have a reminder" tells nobody anything. The message has to name the specific thing, in your words, per reminder rather than one template stretched across the whole account.
3. Delivery is logged
If you cannot answer "did that call go out, and what did it say", you are guessing. Every attempt should be recorded with its outcome and the exact text spoken.
4. Nothing to install on the receiving end
The moment the recipient needs an app, you have excluded landlines, flip phones, and everyone who will not finish a signup. That is usually the group you built this for.
5. Pricing that matches how you use it
Per-seat pricing makes little sense for a tool that places calls. Per-call does. Check what happens when you go over, and whether unused calls roll over.
Where a platform is the wrong tool
If you are placing thousands of calls a day to a list you bought, you do not want a reminder platform, you want a dialler and a compliance lawyer, in that order. Reminder call platforms are for people who asked to be reminded. DoNotify will not help you cold call anyone, by design.
And if you only need to remind yourself, and you reliably hear your own phone, a calendar alert is free and good enough. Reach for a platform when the reminder has to reach someone else, or has to survive being ignored.
